Who better to judge talent than those with their own gifts in the arts and entertainment industry?
That’s exactly what contestants and audience members will see at the 7th annual Morristown’s Got Talent competition on Feb. 26 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
The competition’s four judges have been announced, and include Alyssa Derling, performer, choreographer, teacher and artistic director for Derling Dance Arts; Anthony Krizan, premiere guitarist, songwriter and producer in the New York City area and member of the Spin Doctors; Terrie Carr, music director and midday host at WDHA; and Jay Lustig, arts and entertainment editor for the Star-Ledger.
Prizes for the event are $1,000 for first place; $500 for second; and $250 for third. More than 70 acts auditioned for the show this year. The master of ceremonies for this year’s show is Tara Bernie, senior producer for NBC’s Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood LIVE. Bernie is also a Morristown resident.
The competition invites acts from Morristown, Morris Township, and Morris Plains to perform, and benefits the Morris Educational Foundation. Last year the event raised more than $50,000 for the MEF.
