'Misfits' Take Home $1K Grand Prize at Annual Talent Show

Packed house enjoys 16 acts at Mayo Performing Arts in Morristown's Got Talent showcase.

With more than 70 acts being whittled down to just 16 for the big show, judges for Morristown's Got Talent had a tough task on their hands Wednesday night.

But a Band of Misfits – at trio of high schoolers – made the judges' jobs easier by dominating Nina Simone's "Feeling Good," according to morristowngreen.com, and won the competition and its $1,000 grand prize.

Emceed by Access Hollywood's Tara Bernie, a Morristown resident, the show was filled with glitz and glamour, and for the first time in its seven year history, Morristown's Got Talent also treated its audience to the red carpet treatment the acts received.

The quad of juggling performers named Marimba Four took home the $500 second place prize, and duo Joe Van Loon and Chris Del Sordi took home the $250 second place prize for a jazz performance, morristowngreen.com reported.

Morristown's Got Talent benefits the Morris Education Foundation. While numbers are still being tabulated, last year's event brought in more than $50,000 to the foundation.
