Sandy, 181 Lives

A powerful poem written by a FMS student about Sandy! Check it out!

Sandy, 181 Lives
By: Patrick B.

Earth’s Executioner

Destroyer of the east,
Redrawing the coastline,
Mapped for thousands of years.
Burying homes,
Priceless sentimental wealth,
Entombing beacons,
Of both light and fun.

Gusty Giant

A continental killer,
Taking a bite of us.
Uprooter of forests,
Of hope, and of peace,
Striking blows to millions.
Punching with a force,
Bloodying the states,
With a deathly blow.

Coast Killer

Rising water,
Flooding ferociously,
Killing, drowning,
Carrying us away,
From a loving family.
Too many above,
When they should be walking,
Talking, laughing, loving.

Fiery Fury

Still in the dark,
But not in ashes,
Terrified, and scared,
Of an uncontrollable blaze.
Gas exploding,
Wires waiting to jump,
Boxes of fire,
Lighting the night.
Blues bursting and,
Pandaemonium purples.

Savage Storms

Such a harmless name,
Yet such an evil one,
Associates with Katrina,
Irene, and horrible Andrew.
All spinning like tops,
Some pouring, some roaring,
But hopefully, some missing,
Sizzling away from houses and homes.
The kidnapper of lives,
We remember those taken,
And will never forget,
Sandy.
