Sandy Relief Reflections

Find out ways that you can help the Frelinghuysen Middle School students in their Sandy relief efforts!

A phone rings in the far right corner. An iPad stands ready to record. Meanwhile, a flyer prints on the opposite side of the room. An artist lies on the floor creating a poster. E-mails send to local news agencies.

Finally, a voice on the other end of the line answers. "Hello."

As donations begin pouring in, our students are still hard at work. Three weeks into our project, they continue to be driven by the thought that this activity has a face. It is not theoretical. They are not simply researching and making a PowerPoint.

They are helping a neighbor, feeding a friend or clothing a child.

As an educator, I could not be more inspired by the 8th grade students at Frelinghuysen Middle School. Their work has demonstrated maturity far beyond their years. They have overcome fears of talking to adults on the phone. They are recognizing their own strengths and volunteering to use these in order to advance the project. They have been steadfast in their work and meticulous about their products. The passion that they are bringing to the table is unlike anything I've experienced in a classroom, as a student or teacher.

So, I ask you, the members of the Morristown community, to help support my students. The need is great; their mission is admirable. However, they cannot make the profound impact they envision without your support.

If you can, please donate the items listed here to Frelinghuysen Middle School. All donations may be dropped off at the main office marked "Donate 108".

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
