A Few Morristown Eateries Take Part In New Jersey Restaurant Week

The Eclectic Grill, Sushi Lounge in Morristown, Rod's 1890s represents Morris Township.

Three Morristown-area restaurants will be taking part in New Jersey Restaurant Week, which kicks off today, Sunday, Sept. 19 and runs through Saturday, Sept. 25.

The Sushi Lounge at 12 Schuyler Place, the Hyatt Morristown's Eclectic Grill on Speedwell Avenue, and Rod's 1890s Restaurant on Route 124 in Morris Township will join over 200 Garden State eateries around the state that will offer either three-course, prix fixe menus for $35, a 20-percent discount, or free dessert and coffee following the meal. The purpose of the event, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Restaurant Association, is to showcase home grown foods and boost the New Jersey restaurant industry economically and visually.

"The Eclectic Grill," says Hyatt Regency Morristown Outlets Manager Brian Moscatelli, "has participated in New Jersey Restaurant Week for three years. We participate for promotional purposes, and also it gives us a chance to showcase some food items that we are considering adding to our full-time menu."

Moscatelli said he feels the Eclectic Grill's participation in New Jersey Restaurant Week is important for Morristown, as well as for the restaurant in the food eatery arena. "The Morristown dining scene is very competitive," he said. "There are numerous restaurants just walking distance from us. We feel that restaurant week gives us a chance to make a name for ourselves in town. It also helps us draw in a new crowd of people that may not know that the Hyatt has a restaurant and how impressive it is. We hope to distinguish ourselves as the restaurant of choice when dining in Morristown."

Jennifer Wehring, director of marketing for Morristown Partnership, said she believes New Jersey Restaurant Week is extremely beneficial, especially to the hometown, and her group supports it wholeheartedly. "Morristown Partnership is always in favor of drawing people to downtown Morristown to support our local businesses.  New Jersey Restaurant Week gives participants state-wide exposure; having Morristown restaurants as participants will only assist in attracting a broader audience for the 2011 Downtown Morristown Restaurant Week." That event will begin  Monday, April 4 and runs through Saturday, April 16.
