For those saddened , a bit of good news: they're still open, at least until mid-July.
Of course, with the pending retirements of owners Stephen and Herb Shapiro, change is still in the air. Shelves are either empty or emptying fast, as merchandise exits at 40 percent discounts (that goes up to 50 percent on July 2).
The deli, which had been expected to close in mid-June, is still open and operating normally.
On Friday, Vitamin Department Manager Jim Maze, an employee for 12 years, was stocking shelves with remaining product. Sabrina Schenck was at the register. Jeffrey Hargrove was making sandwiches in the deli.
Herb Shapiro, who said he plans to pursue "bio energetic wellness" after he and his brother leave the business, said much of The Health Shoppe's future was being discussed between a potential buyer, the landlord, "and us," he said.
Until then, get the goods before the goods are gone.
