Opened in March 2012, CUPS was a self-serve frozen yogurt destination billed as a place for kids. The corporate-run business shut its doors last week due to weak sales.
In its absence, Iron Bar landlord Jimmy Cavanaugh is hoping his proposed Gran Cantina Mexican restaurant into the 2,100 square-foot space left vacant by the frozen yogurt business, creating a larger business, according to morristowngreen.com.
Morristown’s Mayor and Council have approved Cavanaugh’s request to extend Iron Bar’s liquor license next door for the proposed Mexican eatery under the condition bar sales end at 11 p.m., the report said. The council contended that downtown was already flushed with young bar patrons when considering the extension.
Cavanaugh told the website he intends to approach the council again with the intention of asking they drop the 11 p.m. cutoff time, the report said.
What do you think? Does Morristown need another bar? Would you be ok with the new bar if it stopped serving at 11 p.m.?
