Fingers Crossed For Fluffy: Famous Ticket-Taker Interviews Monday

Eric Glover is hoping to be back in action at the Morristown AMC Theater when the cinema re-opens in the next few weeks.

On their first day as the theater's new owners AMC has the chance to add their most marketable personality back to the marquee. AMC Theatres officially take over the Morristown movie theaters on Monday and officials say they plan to open in 'one to two weeks.'

And now with staffing next on their list, where does that leave local celebrity ticket-taker Eric "Fluffy" Glover?

According to Glover after applying online he received a phone call Friday afternoon from his once (and hopefully future) employer.

"They called me and I have an interview Monday afternoon," Glover said.

Fortunately for him, the interview will be on familiar turf as Glover said it will be happening in the theater he spent the better part of three decades in.

Glover, more commonly known as "Fluffy" or "The Ticket Taker Guy" for his antics at the cinema, had taken tickets from people with the now-famous cash-register noise and smile since 1993. But the Glover had been employed at the movies in various capacities for almost 30 years, up until the theatre was closed down in June.

“I did security at first, then the Hyatt took over and moved us. When we first opened here back in ’87, we had movies like Dirty Dancing.  A lot of good movies back then," Glover said.

Last month, AMC theatres announced they would be opening a 10-screen cinema that will replace the Bow Tie Cinemas. Interestingly, the theatre was first an AMC before becoming a Clearview and ultimately Bow Tie before closing. If things work out, Glover would be reuniting with his original employer.

Glover said he was excited at the prospect of getting back to work.

“I’ve had a lot of laughs with people throughout the years. I always enjoyed coming here to work and have fun," Glover said.
