just remember whose gonna go the work on the joint. Oh yeah, we union guys got our hands dipped in all construction in this town.

It is amazing that Dougherty's best friend Jimmy Cavanaugh can open a pretend Hispanic restaurant on South St and the town stopped Futbol-Landia (an actual Hispanic restaurant) from opening.
Moira October 16, 2012 at 05:18 PM
That's an excellent question.
40 Parker October 16, 2012 at 06:40 PM
An excellent question that will never be answered. Friends helping friends. Nothing new here. Why would the town approve this? It is criminal how he treats that right of way. Garbage everywhere and uses it as his own personal parking lot
Alberto October 16, 2012 at 09:30 PM
Futbol-Landia got too much trouble from the town trying to open because the Town doesn't want the Metro Shop (130 1/2 speedwell ave) to get exposed. There must be something going on under the table. Also, Gran Cantina might as well be called Chili's, except it is going to be a club at night just like all Jimmy Cavanaugh's places.
Mr R October 16, 2012 at 11:10 PM
Alberto you may be right but I think that Dougherty doesn't want his friend Jimmy to have any competition. The Iron Bar is clearly not doing well. Its uncomfortable just walking by that empty place. I'll tell you one thing, the hispanic community can see right through Dougherty.

Why do we need another Mexican restaurant when we have a good one across from the train station? No more restaurants!
they call me mr tibbs October 17, 2012 at 04:42 PM
you people voted in these bums! Now you are paying the freight.
Moira October 17, 2012 at 05:45 PM
How do you know for whom we voted?
Martatown October 18, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Can ya make a decent Mexican place at least? No fast food Mexican like qudoba. Go check out the food at casa maya and do what they do....best around. Or try another ethnic type that's not in town...or maybe another yogurt, nail salon or dry cleaner in town..is there someone in charge of deciding what types of businesses are over represented... It doesn't take a dope to see that 4 froyo places in one town is too much.. Who's running this place??
Martatown October 18, 2012 at 01:11 PM
What's the good Mexican place across from the train station??
FunkyMotown October 18, 2012 at 01:25 PM
La Estacion is across from the station...it's good.
Morris Towne October 18, 2012 at 02:33 PM
I love Mexican food, and am NOT a fan of the one across from the train station (I gave them a couple of tries and was dissapointed each time), so I welcome an additional option.
jimmy October 18, 2012 at 11:35 PM
Who cares if Jimmy Cavanaugh opens another empty bar? The guy and his little friend (Daryl?) have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Its more sad than anything. Why is Dougherty pulling strings for this guy? If he was a real friend he would tell Jimmy to sell.

This is America!! Jimmie Cavanaugh is a distinguished businessman and was before our Current Mayor. As long as he is following the law, being truthful and has the money He can open a resaurant serving rabbit food. But clearly he thinks business will be better with Mexican Food. There is always room in any place for a great restaurant. How and why would Cavanaugh hurt Fotbol Landia? Again this is America and people love.to go out to eat. Fotbol Landia has a good concept and would work well for All of us. This is like saying we can't open a Chinese Restaurent until we get more Chinese people here. The town profits by encouraging both business and all others. So refresh my memory, why was Fotbol Landia approved and then disapproved a month Later? And who is reimbursing for down time, fewer jobs and all of that. I am no lawyer but how long can Spdwell Redv hold up people's lives and welfare; At what point does SRDhave to leave the bathroom?
Andrew Stalgaitis October 24, 2012 at 03:54 AM
Does anyone know if this James Cavanaugh is related to John Cavanaugh, the Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education?
Steve October 24, 2012 at 04:58 AM
Wow this guys got a crush on those guys! He seem to know it all! If I were you I'd go tell all them yourself! What a tool, people here with legitimate concerns, issues and comments and this guys popping off on a forum taking like an envious jackass! What exactly have you done for Morristown?
Juno October 24, 2012 at 01:20 PM
Bring back Cha Cha Cha's!
Karen October 24, 2012 at 01:24 PM
Morristown desperately needs more restaurants!!! Less frozen yogurt shops, more food options.
Gary OConnor October 24, 2012 at 03:21 PM
This should be the main topic.
Shaun Williams October 24, 2012 at 05:16 PM
The one across from the train station is horrible. Bland food and nothing but decor. I moved here from Texas and I have been dying for a tasty bite of Mexico. They are rare in NJ
Motown Resident October 24, 2012 at 08:00 PM
It will be funny to see the council pass Jimmy's license expansion after opposing the both the bowling alley and Tashmoo's proposal. I think we'll have a good idea of who is in whom's back pocket. Corruption.............let's vote these bums out!! I wonder if both Feldmen and Deeb who voted for Jimmy's 800 person nightclub will continue their hypocrisy. Why is construction going on in the new place without a building permit? Has anyone heard what's going on with our zoning officer?
Virginia Faulkner October 25, 2012 at 12:24 AM
The issue is about a bar that would be a substantial expansion of the space the license holder presently has, not about the type of food. As an irrelevant point, I think the food in the new Mexican American Grill on Lafayette Avenue is better than Estacion, and the only time I went ito Qudoba I had a meal so oversalted that it was inedible.

Blatant favoritism. Cavanaugh runs the town. The mayor is his pawn
Melody P October 25, 2012 at 03:35 AM
This is the same man that demolished the most historic structure in town and tried to destroy the 3rd ward by dismantling Willow Hall. Shame on Mayor Dougherty
