Morristown Children’s Hospital to Unveil ‘Liam’s Room’

This care room is to provide a 'Home Away From Home' for kids who are often at the hospital

With its stark walls and white floors, many have sterile images associated with hospitals. However, the Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown is looking to change that for children who have to frequent hospitals often.

The hospital has a grand opening of Liam’s Room planned for this Wednesday. Liam’s Room will be the first pediatric palliative care room at the hospital and is a non-profit organization created by Lisa and Peter McNamara in loving memory of their son, Liam Hayden McNamara.

The room “seeks to provide a “home away from home” atmosphere for children who must make frequent trips in and out of the hospital due to potentially life-limiting illnesses. Liam’s room is committed to building rooms that are comfortable, peaceful and equipped with home-like amenities, as well as educating hospital staff in the field of pediatric palliative care,” according to the press release.
