Morristown Farmers Market Extends Schedule

The Morristown Partnership announces the market will run through November.

Produce, pickles and pies, oh my!

At the Morristown Farmers Market, consumers can choose from a vast array of fresh, locally produced fruits and vegetables, baked goods, meats and more.  Specialty products such as organic and gluten-free goods are also available.

And this year, they will be available even longer. The Morristown Partnership has decided to extend the normal 20-week market season to 23 weeks. For the first time, Morristown residents will be able to take advantage of the market until Thanksgiving.

France Delle Donne, director of development for Morristown Partnership said, "Demand from our 1,000-plus weekly shoppers was high in terms of extending this community service," she said. "The majority of our 14 season-long vendors were equally as interested in extending the Morristown Farmers Market season. Not only do they have the produce or goods to serve their clients but for many of them, our Farmers Market is the most successful they participate in every week."

Karley Corris of ER & Son Organic Farm, of Monroe Township, agreed. "I was a huge proponent of the extension. We have a nice selection of products available through November such as sweet potatoes, winter squash, carrots, and grains–we have more stuff at that time of the year than other times."

The Morristown Farmers Market "is without question one of the best recognized and attended in New Jersey," said Delle Donne, adding, that the extention an additional three weeks leads into the Lighting of the Green Ceremony and Santa's Arrival at the Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green, which opens the following weekend, Friday, Nov. 26.

"It is our genuine hope that whereas visitors come to Morristown for the Farmers Market and/or the Christmas Festival that they stay a while and support our local businesses and organizations," added Delle Donne.

The Farmer's Market runs Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lot #10 on Spring and Morris streets, near the Morristown Diner.
