On Craigslist Right Now: 'A Unique Ceramic Cat'

Five interesting items your neighbors are currently selling on the Internets.

Here at Morristown Patch, we appreciate both new and not-so-new. Sure, we just got ourselves a pretty new iPhone4, which has kept us awake far later than we should be while we explored the free app store. But, at the same time, we very much appreciate bringing out the Super Nintendo and firing up an exciting game of F-Zero more often than not.

That's why this week's installment of "5 Things: Craigslist" is focusing on some of the vintage items we have found listed by our neighbors over the last several weeks. From truly vintage, like nearly 100-year-old desk fans, to yesterday's hottest piece of tech (that's now today's $30 listing), this is all about classic, baby, classic.

  1. You Need to Know About Vintage Desk Fans: Hey, collectors and hipsters (and hipster collectors), want a really unique way to keep cool as the temperatures climb? This seller has "vintage desk fans," listed since April 26, for $50 each. Check out those large spaces in the fans. Definitely don't want any curious cats or kids getting near those metal blades. Yow!
  2. You Need to Know About a 'Primitive Country Produce Scale': While Morristown is very much hustle and bustle, it resides in Morris County, which in parts is a decidedly rural slice of heaven in the most densely populated state in the nation. With this "old primitive country produce scale," even Morristownians livin' la vida loca in 40 Park can bring a little cornfed simplicity into their posh pads. At $65, this item has been listed since April 26.
  3. You Need to Know About the Ceramic Cat: A steal at $5, seller "Gail" indicated on April 25, when the item was posted, that it needed to be picked up within three days. So, hurry up!
  4. You Need to Know About Yesterday's Technology: For anyone who doesn't necessarily care about getting the most newfangled, flashy tech–specifically, when it comes to televisions–Craigslist is a gold mine for deals. Exhibit A: This flat panel television, a few years old, has a built-in DVD player. Listed since April 24, it's going for $25, and the seller is willing to negotiate. On second thought, maybe we shouldn't have listed this one ...
  5. You Need to Know About the Verizon Dare: And, here is Exhibit B. Technology, especially phone technology these days, moves so fast. Yesterday's "it" product, like this Verizon Dare smartphone, is being sold on Craigslist for $30 today. This has been listed since April 4.
