PCON Aims for Dining Dominance

Restaurant finding service launches in Morristown.

It all started on a beach in Myrtle Beach.

Harry Greisser, his wife and two friends sat there, relaxing in the fading sun, not a care in the world. Save one: They were hungry.

A light went off in the Flanders resident's head. Why not development a piece of hardware to allow you to order food from anywhere? And, PCON, the "Personal Concierge," was born.

Unfortunately, at least for Greisser, technology moves at a lightning-quick pace. With the mass-proliferation of Smart Phones, his idea had become obsolete. So, instead of scrapping what had already cost him $1 million in research and prototypes, Greisser thought about ways PCON could evolve.

Recently, PCON, now a restaurant ordering and information hub, launched in Morristown, it's first test market.

"It went from hardware to software," Greisser said. "And, Morristown is a great hub for business. It just seemed logical."

A search in Morristown within a 5-mile radius reveals 220 listings, many with menus online and the ability to either order online or reserve seats, via the Open Table service. PCON also has partnered with Restaurant.com, to offer discounts.

Eventually, Greisser said he wants to branch out beyond Morristown into connecting towns, including Denville, Madison and Chatham. But, first, he wants to tackle Morristown and it's many, many places to find something to eat.

"We want to become a comprehensive dining guide," Greisser said.
