The Provident Bank Foundation Supports Affordable Housing Build

Morristown, NJ (July 14, 2014)—The Provident Bank Foundation (http://providentnjfoundation.org), which supports organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of residents in the communities served by Provident Bank, has provided a $7,500 grant to Morris Habitat for Humanity (MHfH) in support of the 18 Willow Street Project in Morristown. The grant will enable Morris Habitat for Humanity to keep the cost of construction down and engage the community by involving volunteers in the construction of the home.

“Affordable housing is immensely important to the community,” said Jane Kurek, executive director of The Provident Bank Foundation. “This partnership between Morris Habitat for Humanity and the Foundation enables us to work together toward a common goal; to enable the qualified families to receive home ownership.”

The 18 Willow Street Project includes a two-bedroom unit and a three-bedroom unit in a duplex home. The units will be sold to low-moderate income families. Morris Habitat for Humanity offers a variety of housing solutions for low-moderate income families, creating new homeownership opportunities and working with existing homeowners. MHfH does more than just build houses; they unite communities and improve neighborhoods. MHfH has served the community and worked with families in Morris County for 30 years. Morris Habitat has built, rehabilitated and repaired nearly 140 homes, assisted by over 60,000 volunteer site visits. The organization has a history of demonstrated success in home building, homeowner relations, engaging volunteers and partnering with other community organizations.

“The 18 Willow Street project will engage the community by involving over 4,000 volunteers in the construction of the duplex home,” said Blair Schleicher-Bravo, executive director of Morris Habitat for Humanity. “MHfH volunteers bond together around a positive experience that serves the community. Working alongside the homeowners, many of these volunteers will come away with a better understanding of the critical need for affordable housing in our communities.”
