5 Things: The Week Ahead

Meetings, candidates nights and rallies all coming up.

That's funny. When we entered the weekend, it felt like early summer. When we left it, we were asking for extra blankets before bed. True story. It's amazing what can happen in just a couple days.

Just imagine what can happen in a week? Which is why we're letting you know.

  1. You Need to Know About the Board of Education: Want to keep tabs on where your money's being spent in the local education system? Have a kid in the district? Neither, but are still curious? Then, check out the regular Board of Education meeting, at 7:30 p.m. at the on Hazel Street.
  2. Last month in Florida, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed by a volunteer neighborhood watch member, allegedly in self-defense. Many, however, have cried foul, saying it was a sad and familiar case of racial profiling, because Trayvon Martin was black. Here in Morristown, a rally titled "" is set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the Green. All are welcome.
  3. You Need to Know About Town Council: Your favorite Town Council members and Mayor Tim Dougherty–along with the rest of the Morristown government crew–return to at 7 p.m. (note: the meeting's usually at 7:30 p.m.) Tuesday for their regular Town Council meeting (as always, check back here on Tuesday for a rundown of some of the more notable items on the agenda).
  4. Speaking of the Board of Education, the League of Women Voters of the Morristown Area will be holding a candidates night for prospective BOE members starting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at on James Street.
  5. Although it appears our unseasonably warm weather is behind us, spring forward still is upon us. Which means, the weekly group runs, Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. from , are once again begun in the sun.
