Alleged Attacker Scheduled for Court Appearance This Week

Morristown resident Bryan Mills, who allegedly severely beat a man in front of the American Legion on Abbett Avenue in January, is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Morristown this week. The apparent victim of the attack was hospitalized for a fractured skull and broken nose and remained so during Mill's first court appearance on Jan. 30. Mills has served in prison in the past for incidents in 1998. Mills also pleaded guilty in 2003 to allegedly shooting a man in the face over a dispute over a cigarette. Mills is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Come back to Morristown Patch later in the week for follow-up coverage.

Henry Street Parking Could Be Limited for Non-Residents

The Morristown Council will hold a public hearing this week before considering whether amending the local traffic regulations pertaining to Henry Street. According to the amendment being considered, Chapter 7 of the Morristown Code would need to be changed for the town to move forward with residential parking only on the street from Monday through Sunday, 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. Currently, parking is not limited to only residents and many Morristown roads have two-hour parking restrictions. The council will vote on the amendment ordinance at the regular meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Child Porn Indictment Served to Former DPW Super

Last week, former DPW superintendent Charles Jones was indicted on charges of distributing child pornography over the Internet. Jones was one of 27 people arrested through the federal "Operation Watchdog" investigation, which sought out individuals believed to be distributing child porn over the Internet. This week, we'll bring you a follow-up story on where the case is and what this means for the town.

George & Martha's Hopes to Host Outdoor Tent on St. Paddy's

Morris Street's popular bar and restaurant is hoping to bring the fun outside on St. Patrick's Day as the restaurant has requested that the town council consider amending the business' liquor license to allow for an outdoor tent on March 9, the day of Morris County's annual St. Patrick's Day parade. The restaurant has had an outdoor tent in the back in years past during the event. The council's consideration will be made also at Tuesday's regular meeting. We'll have a story about the decision.
