Amidst Winter, We Dream of Summer

Here are some ways to take a mental vacation today from this snowy mess.

So, that's it, right? The ice storm that sagged trees, and made for a nice photo feature (more on that later today!) marks the end of what has been one of the worst winters in memory. Right?

Probably not. Even if the groundhog over in Pennsylvania said we'll have an early spring, most of us probably feel like winter is going to be here forever. So, until it finally does go back to Antarctica, where it belongs, here are some ways you can "zone out" of February, if only for a few moments.

  1. You Need to Know About All-Fruit Tropical Peach Smoothies: The new item is at . A large is going for the introductory price of $3.95. Just don't drink it outside.
  2. You Need to Know About : When Morristown Munchies writer Vincent Gragnani lamented the end of summer in September, . Ask for yours "muy caliente."
  3. You Need to Know About '127 Hours': It's playing at 4:10 and 6:40 p.m. at . That's the one about the guy who got trapped while hiking and had to cut his own arm off. Puts scraping ice and bundling up into perspective.
  4. You Need to Know About : The documentary is being shown at 6:30 p.m. at the Bickford Theatre, courtesy of Grow it Green Morristown. Maybe when bees are flying around on-screen, you can, in the darkness of the theater, forget it's still below freezing outside.
  5. You Need to Know Summer Can Be Pretty Awful, Too: Digging deep into the Morristown Patch archives, we found this little gem, which included the quote, "Good news the temperature only reads 99 now." Yeah, it's about perspective, friends. And, after all this winter weather woe, warmer temperatures will be so welcome, no matter how humid it gets. That is, until it gets too humid.
