Atlantic Sports Health to Hold Free Athletics Testing Lecture

Event set for 7 to 9 p.m., July 7, in Randolph.

Atlantic Sports Health, part of Atlantic Health (which owns and operates ), will hold a free lecture to discuss proper athletics testing for cyclists and triathletes from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, in Randolph. The press release is below:

Professionals from Atlantic Sports Health, a program that offers a wide range of services for injury treatment and prevention, physical therapy, and performance improvement, will discuss endurance athletics and metabolic testing from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at the Black River Barn, 1178 Route 10 West, Randolph.

The event is free and open to the public, and all attendees will have the option to purchase a $25 ticket for an all-you-can-eat BBQ. Door prizes will be provided by Atlantic Sports Health, including certificates for free metabolic VO2 and body fat composition tests. Damion Martins, MD, medical director, Atlantic Sports Health, will address the benefits of metabolic testing for endurance athletes, especially for those looking to enhance their performance. VO2 testing is often used as an overall indicator of cardiovascular fitness potential; the higher the VO2 value, the bigger the engine.

“This test works well either for athletes looking to maximize performance or anyone looking to begin an exercise program,” Martins said. “Athletes who know their anaerobic threshold and VO2 value can adjust their training programs to maintain and maximize their cardiovascular health and get an edge on the competition. We teach athletes how to trainer smarter not necessarily harder.”

Atlantic Sports Health also has begun the NJ Multisport Series as a way to promote healthy competition among multisport athletes throughout the state. By partnering with local racing organizations, the series encourages New Jersey athletes to support local races and visit with Atlantic Sports Health professionals to gain insights into optimizing their training.
