Autopsy: Morristown Man Acquitted in Death By Auto Died of Pneumonia

Oxycodone, Alprazolam also found in Adam Gibbon's blood.

An autopsy showed Adam Gibbon, of Morristown, died of pneumonia on Jan. 6 in his brother's home in Washington Township, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Gibbon, who was acquitted of death-by-auto on Dec. 16, 2010 for a car crash that killed a friend on March 13, 2007, also had oxycodone and alprazolam in his blood system, according to the autopsy. Oxycodone is a prescription pain killer, and alprazolam is a generic form of xanex, an anti-anxiety prescription drug. The autopsy also showed ethanol–alcohol–in Gibbon's blood.

According to Morris County Deputy Medical Examiner Carlos A. Fonseca certified that cause of death was bilateral bronchopneumonia. The oxycodone, alprazolam and alcohol were considered contributing factors of intoxication in Gibbon's death.

Gibbon was a Long Valley resident before moving to Morristown.
