Have you been utilizing the on Early Street the last couple seasons? Have you heard that the land actually is in a redevelopment zone and has previously been eyed for construction? Have you hoped that does not come to pass?
Then, you might want to head to the on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Read the following press release from Grow it Green Morristown:
The Town of Morristown, working with the Trust for Public Land, are working to preserve the Early Street Community Garden. The Trust for Public Land is a national nonprofit that works to preserve land for people to use and enjoy. It is exciting that such a well-respected conservation organization has taken an interest in the garden. We're also extremely thankful for the support of Mayor Dougherty and his administration for their work to help preserve the garden. The will be an even better place to live, work and visit with the community garden in place and the new public park that Grow it Green Morristown will install at the front of the garden for all to enjoy. We hope that the public will come out in support of this open space and recreation amenity.
Because of the Grant deadline, this will be going before the Town Council right away. This Tuesday, February 14th at 7:30. Grow It Green Morristown needs to show that the community supports this effort!
If you are in favor of open space and community gardens, please come out and support this. Even if you are not comfortable speaking, a show of hands in favor will go an incredibly long way!
If you cannot make this meeting, please email your support to 3rd Ward Councilperson Stefan Armington, here.
