Excessive Heat Warning in Effect Through Saturday

Plan to do most activities inside.

Thinking about going for a run outside? You might want to take your fitness routine indoors.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning that will be in effect through Saturday, as temperatures climb–or may exceed–100 degrees. This had previously been issued as an excessive heat watch, but was upgraded on Wednesday.

"The oppressive heat and humidity, from the central plains and midwest region, will continue to spread eastward across our area through the end of the week and potentially right into the weekend," according to the alert. The heat index will be near 105 Thursday afternoon and near 110 Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
