Fun for You, Fun for Them: The Weekend Planner

Events for the adults, and the kids are all here.

Looking for a little fun this weekend? Looking for a little fun for the little ones? Well, you've come to the right place.

Our "Get Out" section of the weekend planner has plenty of options for you. And, our "Grab & Go" kids planner, found at the bottom, has a few things the tykes are sure to enjoy. It's a win-win!

Where/When: 8 p.m. at the  in Morristown on Thursday, April 14.
Why Go: Because you’re a fan of Mathis, who has been performing since the 1950s, when he appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Pricing: Tickets range from $85 to $150.


Where/When: 2 p.m. at the Morris County Library in Whippany on Friday, April 15.
Why Go: Because all the films shown in April at the county library will be Oscar nominees. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: From 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the .
Why Go: Because this hike, hosted by the Great Swamp Watershed Association, will include games to learn more about sharpening our senses at night.
Pricing: Fee for non-members: $10 per adult; $5 per child 5 or older; $30 per family.

Cinematic Titanic
Where/When: 8 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the  in Morristown.
Why Go: Because if you are a fan of “Mystery Science Theatre 3000,” then you will probably enjoy this live version, complete with the original cast of the television show.
Pricing: Tickets range from $27 to $37 and are available online.


Where/When: 8 p.m. at the  in the Parsippany Community Center in Lake Hiawatha on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.
Why Go: Because this play by the Women’s Theater Co. tells the story of four English women learning about themselves and about romance in Italy in the 1920s.
Pricing: $18 for adults; $15 for seniors.


Where/When:
 From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the  in Chatham on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because gently used children’s bikes can be brought to the school for donation, and the bikes will go to children who cannot afford bikes.


Where/When: From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at  in Chatham.
Why Go: Because guests can try on or purchase Stella and Dot jewelry. Twenty-five percent of proceeds will benefit Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.
Pricing: Depends on what you buy.


Where/When: 11 a.m. at  in Madison on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because you like Shakespeare and you want to see a mid-day performance of one of his most notable works.
Pricing: Prices vary and are available online.


Where/When: 7 p.m. at  in Montville on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because guests can check out a local comedian while grabbing some dinner at Suppa’s. Dinner is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the comedy begins at 9 a.m.
Pricing: $10 admission.


Where/When: 7 p.m. at the  in Morris Township on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that combats breast cancer and provides funding for research. Also, it’s a chance to see some figure skating stars.
Pricing: $20 for general admission seating.


Where/When: At the  at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because the band will perform hits from some of its platinum albums, and admission will include desserts, coffee, and soft-drinks.
Pricing: $30.


Where/When: 9:30 a.m. at the  in Chatham on Sunday, April 17.
Why Go: Because, whether you bring your binoculars or borrow some at the event, you can take an early morning stroll and check out some birds. For ages 10 or older.
Pricing: $3.

GRAB & GO KIDS PLANNER


Where/When: From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the  on Thursday, April 14.
Why Go: Because children of all ages can stop by anytime during the workshop to make spring watercolor paintings.
Pricing: $5 per child.


Where/When: From 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at  in Montville on Thursday, April 14.
Why Go: Because 20 percent of dinner sales will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Montville, including takeout orders.
Pricing: Depends how much you eat!


Where/When: At 10 a.m. at the  on Friday, April 15.
Why Go: Because children from age 2 to age 5, along with their families, can explore the museum’s new exhibit, “Digging Dinosaurs.”
Pricing: Free with museum admission.


Where/When: From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the  on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because there will be a carnival atmosphere for the kids, and a free two-minute oral cancer examination will be offered.
Pricing: Free.

New Jersey Ballet: Cinderella
Where/When:
 At 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 at the  in Morristown.
Why Go: If you like Cinderella, or if you like ballet, then this family show should be a great way to spend the afternoon.
Pricing: Tickets range from $12 to $15 and are available online.


Where/When: From 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the  in Kinnelon on Sunday, April 17.
Why Go: Because anyone age 7 or older can join the staff of Pyramid Mountain for this hike, which will take place during the setting sun and the rising moon. Flashlights are welcome.
Pricing: $5.
