Get Out: Art, Celebrations and 'Boyz (Men)'

As always, "Get Out" not only highlights some interesting activities happening in the Morristown area this weekend, it also plucks interesting items from the region, courtesy our other fine Patch sites. You never know what exciting thing could be happening just a couple towns over. 

And, we won't know what exciting things are coming up unless they're in our "events" calendar. If you know of something that should be there, be sure to get it in there pronto!


When/Where: Friday at 9 a.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m. at 129 S. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany
Why Go: Bargains, plus the opportunity to help people who rescue pets and find them good homes.
Cost: Bring your shekels to buy something

When/Where: Friday, 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You're a "Child of the 90s" that loves one of that decade's biggest-selling R&B groups.
Cost: $37 to $67

Bonnie Brae Scottish Festival and Games
When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the  Valley Road in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: When the bagpipers come marching en masse over the hills, you may think you're in Scotland. Fans of all things Scottish, from edible specialties, kilts, British cars, dogs, dancers and much more congregate here each year.
Cost: Admission is $13 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 16; under 6 free. $5 parking charge

When/Where: Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Cavalry Baptist Church, Morristown
Why Go: You want to support the RISE Youth Mission group; you want to get a confidential AIDS test.
Cost: $5 for cars, $8 trucks/RVs; AIDS test is free


When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Modick Park in Hopatcong 
Why Go: Because you want to enjoy a children's skit, a bounce house, games, prizes, food, crafts and more.
Cost: Free

When/Where: Saturday, 5 p.m. at Zebu Forno, Morristown
Why Go: You love art openings over a slice of pizza, perhaps?
Cost: Free (except for any food and drinks you may purchase, of course)

When/Where: Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Franciscan Oaks Retirement Community Center, 19 Pocono Road, Denville
Why Go: Because you want to celebrate with all those who have survived and their families and friends.
Cost: Free

When/Where: Sunday, 9:30 a.m. at Early Street Community Garden, Morristown
Why Go: It's yoga in a garden, need we say more?
Cost: Free ($5 suggested donation)

Asian Festival
When/Where: Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at .
Why Go: To get some Asian culture as the Somerset County Asian American organization brings food, dancing, music and much more to the high school.
Cost: Free

When/Where: Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Why Go: If you're a registered Republican voter in district 26 (Essex, Morris, Passaic counties), and want to meet and hear from Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, NJ Legislature, and Morris County Freeholder
