Get to Work, Buddy: Five Places Patch Gets Patchy in MoTown

We're online, which means, we can be–and often are–anywhere and everywhere. Here's where you can find us.

Here's the thing about being an all-online, hyperlocal outfit: the world is our office. That is, anywhere the world has a reliable WiFi connection or anywhere I can get my aircard to work.

When I am not watching the world go by from the home office in the corner of my bedroom, you might find me in one of these five fine locations for myself–and anyone with the right equipment–to catch up on some work, or at least catch up on Facebook friend requests.

And, now that I am revealing my locations to you, you have at least a 1 in 5 chance of finding me to ask a question face-to-face. Unless, I decide to head out of town for the afternoon.

  1. You Need to Know About : Oh, the library, where have you been all my Patch-related life? Unfortunately, when , the library was closed, with only . Certainly nowhere for me to plug in my laptop and call the Business Administrator. Now, with the newest part of the library back open, I have access to comfortable, quiet places, like the study room, which you often may find me in.
  2. You Need to Know About : One of my earliest non-apartment spots to work, this location with the $4.95 sandwiches has some nice folks, a nice couch, one that often is occupied. But, when it's not, you may find me here for several hours. (Fun fact: It's also where I had my first interview for the job!)
  3. You Need to Know About I have already espoused my love of . What you may not know is I love to sit in a comfy chair there all the way in the back. It's almost never occupied (probably because it's next to the men's bathroom).
  4. You Need to Know About : The new(er) guy on the block recently moved the furniture around a little, which threw me off at first. But, I have learned to love the change. A large table now sits in the back, with convenient access to an outlet, I can stretch out here while enjoying a slice of pizza with my coffee.
  5. You Need to Know About Loantaka Reservation: Technically, this is in Morris Township, but if I can ride my bike to it, it can't be far. Last fall, before winter had buried us all in sad, sad snow, I spent an afternoon on a bench by a babbling brook, uploading photos with the help of my trusty aircard. Despite feeling connected to nature, I was connected to technology. It might have been the best workday I ever had.
