Roads in Morristown, Township remained closed Wednesday.

  • Lake Valley Road, Morris Township
  • MLK Avenue, Morristown

Traffic delays are expected.

Cars were at a standstill Wednesday morning along Speedwell Avenue, as Morristown Patch freelance photogapher Warren Westura slowly made his way to an assignment.

"If I can just move 10 more car-lengths, I'm going to get off this road," he said by phone. "I got here 30 minutes ago and I've barely moved a quarter-mile.

LAKE VALLEY ROAD, MORRIS TOWNSHIP
In Morris Township, Lake Valley Road was reported closed Tuesday between Mill Road and Lake Road, according to an alert issued by the Morris Township Police Department.

Repairs were being planned, but the road could be closed for three weeks because "embankment erosion along Watnong Brook from Hurricane Irene has begun to undermine the stability of Lake Valley Road just south of Mill Road," according to township administrator Tim Quinn.
