Check presentation held on Thursday.

Members of the Neighborhood House, Kings Supermarkets and Community Food Bank of NJ were on hand Thursday for a $20,000 check presentation to the Neighborhood House for its "Kids Cafe" program, which provides evening meals for children from poor and low-income families.

The press release is below.

Food Markets and its vendor partners are proud to announce their commitment to sponsor the  Kids Cafe in Morristown, New Jersey, which not only offers children a safe and engaging after-school environment but also – through the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s PNC Bank Kids Cafe Program – provides 120 hungry children healthy, well-balanced, hot meals.

With Kings and its vendor partners’ support, the Neighborhood House Kids Cafe will be able to continue providing much-needed hunger relief services to local children for an entire school year. Kids Cafes provide nutritious, evening meals each school day to children from poor and low-income households, thus helping them to avoid the physical and learning difficulties associated with under-nutrition. Kids Cafes work in conjunction with after-school programs of organizations such as Neighborhood House, a comprehensive social-services agency.

This sponsorship is part of Kings’ “Act Against Hunger” initiative, a commitment to end hunger in the communities it serves by providing food donations, financial contributions, and nutritional education supporting hunger relief.  To date, Kings and its vendor partners have provided more than 50,000 lbs. of food, 5,000 meals, and approximately 2,000 turkeys to those in need.
