Linda Murphy Among Humanitarian Award Winners

20th Annual George Gramby Day set for noon to 7 p.m. July 14.

The George Gramby Observance Committee will celebrate the 20th-annual on Saturday, July 14 form noon to 7 p.m. at the Abbett Avenue Playground. 

Among this year's honorees are Linda Murphy, the former principal at whose pending reassignment as principal of prompted .

On Saturday, July 14, 2012 The George Gramby Observance Committee will host the 20th Annual George Gramby Day at Abbett Ave. Playground starting at noon and ending at 7PM. The event is a community celebration, honoring individuals that embody the characteristics of the late George Gramby who was a substance abuse counselor and Director of "Beginnings”, a substance abuse referral center for the Town of Morristown.

The theme for this year’s event is “New Beginnings – it’s never too late” and the day will feature a marathon of mini recovery meetings, an annual men’s softball game between Morristown Team (Beginnings) and Eva’s Village from Patterson, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, kid’s Olympics, face painting, food, and local talent with continuous music by D.J. Mike Strickland. Vendors will be on site with educational material on Drug & Alcohol Prevention and the message of recovery.

Humanitarian award winners will be honored at 4 pm. Honorees must demonstrate commitment, consistency, dedication, desire to help others, diligence, honesty, humbleness, integrity, leadership, and community service. This year Humanitarian Award winners are Linda Murphy, Jamie Pooler, Donnie Forster, Kenny Smith, and Mike Strickland.
