Morristown Hospital Ranked No. 1 for Third Year

Nearly 1,200 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly. Morristown Medical Center came out on top in several categories such heart surgery, cancer treatments and more

The ranking survey was done by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd, one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies, according to the hospital’s press release. These rankings are published in Inside Jersey magazine’s April 2013 issue. Atlantic Health System’s hospitals, which include Morristown, Overlook, and Newton Medical Centers, and Goryeb Children’s Hospital, placed in the top four in the state in nearly every category ranked by Castle Connolly.

Nearly 1,200 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in fall 2012. Physicians cast more than 20,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with less than 350 beds.

Also this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked Morristown Medical Center as one of the top 50 hospitals in the country for cardiology, heart surgery and gynecology. A Magnet hospital for nursing excellence and a national Beacon Award winner, Morristown Medical Center has proved itself as a top destination for quality care in New Jersey and one of the best in the New York metropolitan area. The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown performs more than 1,000 heart surgeries annually, more than any other cardiovascular facility in the state. Morristown Medical Center is a regional trauma center and regional perinatal center to care for critical mothers and newborns.
