Morristown, the Monday After: What is Open?

Closings, cancellations and–hopefully–reports on restored power as they become available.

The Monday after Hurricane Irene invaded our area is bright and, most thankfully, dry and wind-free.

But, for many of us in Morristown, it's also very, very quiet as power has yet to be restored for over 12,000 customers, according to the JCP&L outage map.

As flood waters on Ridgedale Avenue––have completely receded, town officials have said they hoped power would begin to be restored to the many still in the dark (not quite literally given the beautiful Monday). Mayor Tim Dougherty said Sunday that JCP&L officials had hoped power could be restored to the majority of Morristown residents within 12 hours, but that the business district–from on South Street to the Green–would be without power for an extended time. He met with representatives of JCP&L Monday morning, however, who provided the town with an update.
