One Morristown Business Moves Forward, Another Hits a Hurdle

The Morristown Town Council will also approve to accept a $120,000 in grant funding for Sussex Avenue Safe Walking Program

Morristown Town Council

Morristown Town Council will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. On the agenda is an ordinance to issue $1,138,080 in bonds or notes for improvement projects for roads, sidewalks, the park and Burnham Pool, the town hall building as well as replace DPW equipment. Another ordinance will give $54,000 to help finance capital improvements at the Morristown Municipal Airport.

Incoming business Cambridge Wines Cellars is hitting a hurdle.

At the last council meeting, they got its last stamp of approval when the Morristown Town Council unanimously approved the transfer of a liquor license to Cambridge.

However, with this Tuesday’s meeting, there is a resolution to rescind Cambridge’s person to person and place to place transfer of retail distribution. The reason why the council needs to pass this resolution is because the NJ Division of Taxation transfer clearance was not received by Cambridge.

The council will approve this transfer as long as the receipt of the transfer clearance is in the mail from the Division of Taxation by Tuesday.

On the other hand, another business is moving forward. At the last council meeting, Uncle Baxter LLC looked to transfer a liquor license to 34B-36 Speedwell Ave. for a bar named Veronica's. It was on the last meeting’s agenda under unfinished business and Council President Michelle Dupree Harris recommended that Uncle Baxter’s place to place transfer be put on the regular agenda for the next council meeting.

At Tuesday’s council meeting, there’s a resolution on the agenda to approve this place-to-place transfer.

The council will also approve $120,000 of grant funds from the NJDOT Safe Routes to School program. This money will be awarded to the Sussex Avenue Safe Walking Program and will install speed humps, raised crosswalks, traffic sign materials, traffic stripes and sidewalk and pedestrian ramp improvements.

The Morristown Town Council Redevelopment will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at town hall
