Video: 'Patch Takes It Off,' Fitness Every Day

Our attempt to incorporate fitness in our lives, great and small.

It's very easy to fall of a horse. Just ask anyone who has done it.

But, this horse is metaphorical. Whether it's that , or in this case, the fitness horse, life (or, our interpretation of it) just gets in the way. Looking at those fit and trim folks out and about every single day makes me angry–angrily jealous.

But, as we learned this week, it is possible to do something every day (for the most part. See the video for more information). Whether it's getting to the gym for an hour, or just climbing the stairs in the parking garage instead of using the elevator, there are ways. Those 50 or 60-odd steps you took are 50 or 60 steps you would have not taken had you just waited for the elevator to come, right?

One important element to this week's experiment in the great "Patch Takes It Off" experiment: incorporating an overall "lifestyle change." Yes, the , the is great, but speaking from first-hand experience, it's easy to get on the horse once a week, then fall back off when the camera stops filming. The warm-weather jogs, and stair climbing adventure (and, yes, even walking across town ) are not experienced in a bubble. It's all part of a lifestyle change that will make the next month not only possible, but very much enjoyable.
