Plane Crash Pilot Did Not Get Weather Info, Report Says
Pilot in 2011 crash on I-287 in which five people died did not request briefing, according to National Transportation Safety Board.
Before taking flight from Teterboro in a plane ride that ultimately ended tragically when the aircraft crashed into 287 in 2011, pilot Jeffrey Buckalew did not request or receive information on weather conditions, according to a new report. All five people aboard the Socata private plane died in the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a new report that explained that while weather conditions were icy that December day, Buckalew, who lived in North Carolina, was unaware of exactly what he would be facing as he flew the plane, according to nj.com. The plane crashed near the Morristown exit of the highway.
Buckalew's two children; wife, Corinne; colleague, Rakesh Chawla; and family dog were aboard.
