Repaving to Close Some of Franklin St. Next Week

Milling and repaving near hospital set for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 16, 17.

Plan your routes accordingly early next week.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and Wednesday, Aug. 17, Morristown will be milling and resurfacing on Franklin Street from Madison Avenue to the Route 287 bridge overpass. Detours will be in place and access to will not be affected, according to a release issued Thursday by the Morristown Police Department.

During construction hours portions of Franklin Street will be closed to thru traffic and on-street parking will be prohibited, according to the release. Construction will start at 7 a.m. at the Madison Avenue end of Franklin Street and proceed west toward the Route 287 bridge overpass. Residents are being asked that if they need to leave their home in the morning, to leave as early as possible and drive west on Franklin Street toward the Route 287 bridge.

Access to driveways and side streets along Franklin Street will not be possible at certain times during milling and paving activities, according to the release. The Morristown Police Department will provide traffic control officers at key intersections, according to the release.

The street will be open to emergency vehicles at all times and will be opened to all traffic by the end of each workday, according to the release.
