'Second Sunday' to Feature Free Music, Ice Pops

Solar-powered ice cream truck to make an appearance at Morristown Farmers Market, as will "Zoom" musician Bill Griese.

As if fresh produce, flowers, pickles, cheese and more weren't enough to motivate people to visit the , there are a few more incentives every second Sunday of the month.

Called "Second Sunday," the -organized market features a few extras on, well, every second Sunday the Morristown Farmers Market is open, which this year is until Nov. 20.

This Sunday, the market will have special sections set up for Morristown businesses and . Also this Sunday, at 9:30 and 11 a.m., Morris Plains musician Bill Griese will be performing. Profiled on our sister site, Morris Township-Morris Plains Patch, Griese has performed locally as well as had his song "Zoom" appear in a commercial for Fujifilm.

Also on-hand for this month's "Second Sunday" is the Sungevity solar-powered ice cream truck, which will be giving away free ice pops to market patrons throughout the day.

Sungevity, based in California, has been promoting its residential solar panel business nationwide by touring this ice cream truck, which runs on bio-diesel and solar power. The truck features iPads, which are powered by the truck's solar-panels, and which will be available to patrons for sampling.

"Sungevity ... is now offering their innovative services in the Northeastern market—including New Jersey," according to a Sungevity press release. "To celebrate, the Sungevity solar-powered truck will be traveling throughout the North Jersey region and the Jersey Shore, from Aug. 10th to the 20th, to help residents cool down by handing out free ice-pops."
