Happy Monday, Morristown! We hope your weekend was refreshing and you're ready to plunge into the workweek with as much vigor as you had when escaping it last week.

We here at Morristown Patch like to consider ourselves multi-faceted. This is new media after all. We have your traditional , but we also have , and more. That "more" is social media. And, that, of course, includes Facebook

Today, as an addendum to , is why it's a good idea to "Like" our Facebook page.

  1. You Need to Know About Up-to-the-moment Alerts: We here at Morristown Patch always make sure to let our readers know about breaking news as it happens. We did it with , the and as recent as this weekend in regard to . But, not everything makes it to the page, and not everything warrants the "Breaking News" tag. Did you get stuck in some bad Route 287 traffic? Didn't realize roadwork on Elm Street was going to turn that road into a parking lot? You might have looked for another route if you were on our Facebook page, as we make sure to repost such alerts from the NJ511 service to it and our Twitter feed (but, that's a shameless self-promotion for another post).
  2. You Need to Know About What's Going On in Morristown: We don't want to use our Facebook page just to post stuff that we wrote. It also is a great way to get information out from other groups around town, such as , which posted information this weekend about the Morristown Farmers Market, which returns on June 19. As such, we made sure to also post their news on our site.
  3. You Need to Know About Humor: Not everything has to be about business. Sometimes, we just like to post a casual, fun little blurb on the site, talking about how hot it is, how cold it is, how hungry we are (we're always looking for you to offer suggestions). We want to meet everyone, and know everyone in Morristown. When we can't, Facebook can help bridge the gap.
  4. You Need to Know About How You Can Contribute: Our Morristown Patch Facebook page is another way for you, the reader, to get word out about any information you want to share. While we want everyone obsessing over our website like they do Facebook, we know how many times (well, us, at least) most people pop onto the social media juggernaut. So, why not share it on both sites?
  5. You Need to Know About Ed Myers: Seeing the Morristown High School Alumni Association President's 1985 Senior Prom photo never gets old.
