Week in Review: A Lot of News You Can Use

Catch up with the week's news every weekend here on Morristown Patch.

We understand you can't always check in on what's happening in Morristown every single say. No, it's OK. We understand. Sniffle ...

So, we've made it easy for you by compiling what we think are some of the week's most newsworthy items here in a little bite-size sampling we call "Week in Review."

On Monday, we began a firestorm of passionate debate on both sides of the opinion on whether gay marriage should be legal in New Jersey. Did you get your say on this?

Also on Monday, we reported that the Morris School District had gone against the trend of most districts in the state and decided to keep school elections in April this year, rather than move them to the general election.

On Tuesday, we featured the Morristown High School Forensics (no, not CSI-type stuff) team, which competed this weekend at Harvard. Want to learn more about them? Check this out.

Also on Tuesday, Mayor Tim Dougherty held his press conference to discuss the "special reliability master" findings and recommendations given recently to JCP&L, in order to fix the ongoing underground system issues. What did he say at the meeting?

On Wednesday, we began our latest contest, teaming up with the folks organizing the 10th-annual Taste of Morristown event. We want to know, of those participating in the Taste (over 40 so far), who gets your vote of confidence?

On Friday, "Morristown Munchies" went over to the other new burger joint, Shake It!, to see how it compares to Don's Burgers, which has been getting all the attention. So, who makes the better burger?

Finally, also on Friday, we reported in our regular Friday feature, "Morristown for Sale," a number of properties potential homeowners may want to look into if they're interested in living in town. One of those, however, was not a place to live but rather a place to eat, as longtime Morristown restaurant Nagano is up for sale. Have you been a fan?

Finally, finally, we would be remiss if we did not mention all of the attention given to Whitney Houston's funeral this weekend. However, for that we will refer you instead to our friends over at Newark Patch, who worked harder than anyone this weekend in giving you the best coverage

That's it from here at Morristown Patch HQ. Be sure to check back every weekend to find out what you may have missed during the week, here on "Week in Review." And, as always, be safe!
