What Happened on Morristown Patch This Weekend?

In case you were away, here are five things from the weekend that was.

Another weekend gone, another workweek ready to go. They go so fast, these weekends, don't they? We here at Morristown Patch, as always, hope yours was a wonderful, restful, revitalizing one.

And, as always, if your restful weekend included an Internet fast, every Monday here on "5 Things You Need to Know Today," we'll give you a run-down of some of the things you may have missed during that computer break. Because, we care.

  1. You Need to Know About Blockbuster: For many, the closure of Blockbuster Video on Speedwell Avenue was a long-time coming. With services like Redbox and Netflix dominating the game, more of more of this once ubiquitous business has been shuttered, including ours several months ago. But, at least one person, our very own Denise Addis, is not happy about it.
  2. You Need to Know About Fitness Every Day: We are shamefaced that "" our regular summer video feature, missed its usual Friday afternoon/evening slot and . We make no excuses. While it was late, it's no less great, if we say so ourselves!
  3. You Need to Know Starbucks Made it Officially Official: While the coffee giant's was on July 15, the big "officially official" ribbon cutting, great ballyhoo celebration happened the following week, on July 22. Patch was there. Were you?
  4. You Need to Know it Was Hot, Hot, Hot This Weekend: But, that didn't stop folks from finding their way onto the Green, where photographer Warren Westura happened to capture several of them somehow enjoying this intense heat. If had been trying to look for us, he would have had to look somewhere with air conditioning.
  5. You Need to Know Gay Marriage is Now Legal in New York: While we are over in the Garden State, one gay couple from Brooklyn looking for a proper church ceremony before signing up for the real thing in the Empire State happens to be friends with the Rev. Janet Broderick, of our own . So, the reverend made the ceremony happen, and it was featured in The New York Times over the weekend.
