Will Irene Wash Out Big Weekend?

MorristownGreen.com film festival, inaugural Gran Fondo NJ among Morristown activities that may be affected by hurricane.

As Hurricane Irene approaches mainland U.S. and makes its way up the east coast, Morristown is facing the possibility of a wet, windy weekend.

But, this isn't just any old weekend–it's also the weekend for both MorristownGreen.com's fourth-annual film festival on Saturday, and the on Sunday.

Kevin Coughlin, of MorristownGreen.com, said he was watching the weather closely and would let the public know if the date changes for his film festival–currently scheduled for noon to 10 p.m. Saturday on the Green.

, the organizers of the Gran Fondo, sent out an email on Wednesday afternoon:

It appears that a new participant (Irene) may make an appearance in the first Gran Fondo NJ.

We are monitoring the situation closely, and working with police and local authorities to evaluate its impact on the Gran Fondo NJ.

We will be providing a definitive update on Friday at 4 PM on whether the event will go on as planned on Sunday August 28th or be rescheduled due to the hurricane. The update will be posted on Facebook, on the Gran Fondo NJ website, and sent out in an e-mail to all registered participants.
