With Electric Generators Gone, Library Looks to Next Step Toward Complete Opening

Library Director: Bids will be going out for work on 1917, 1933 wings in next couple weeks.

The electrical generators that had become a familiar sight at The Morristown & Morris Township Public Library since an explosion closed the place until of this year

And now, the library's director says work continues on repairs to the old wings of the library, which remain closed.

"The next part of the project is going out to bid in the next couple weeks," said Maria Norton on Monday, after the Jersey Central Power & Light generators had been taken away.

Norton said work still to be done in the 1917 and 1933 wings of the library included new carpeting, floorin, furniture, painting as well as electrical work. She said no one could set a date on the reopening of those wings, especially not until the library got the upcoming work bids back.

Still, the director was happy that progress had been made in the removal of the generators. "We said, 'bye bye,' generators," Norton said, laughing.
