Bending Towards the Light: A Jazz Nativity is a semi-staged musical and theatrical production that utilizes the medium of jazz to tell the story of Christmas. The jazz ensemble includes Steve Hess on drums and Rob Middleton, a saxophonist and headliner at Birdland in New York City. PCM’s Chancel Choir and Cantate Omnes join forces with the high school choir, Cantus, performing as the chorus, actors and vocal soloists for the nativity. Guest soloists portray the three kings: a jazz trumpeter, a tap dancer and a Latin percussionist. All forces combine to tell the age-old story of the light that came into the world to bring hope, love and peace, in a world fraught with discord, war and hate. This event is unlike any other offered in Morristown this Christmas season.
