Steampunk at Historic Speedwell

Historic Speedwell is the birthplace of the telegraph! It's also a lovely park and an area full of historic buildings from the Age of Steam!

We've got a fun, friendly weekend of good times, in a beautiful setting, for a token ticket cost which goes 100% towards helping Historic Speedwell.

Join us with your family for an all-ages Steampunk event at the birthplace of the telegraph! Musicians, artists, games, entertainers, and enjoyment for everyone. Stop by and have a great time! Visit some wonderful vendors!

We could totally use more performers who'd like to donate their valuable time and service. Drop us a line if you or someone you know is interested!

Vendors, the City is a new event, and knows that new events are tricky. Come vend for free! Contact us for details.

The International Steampunk City is a concept developed and created by Jeff Mach. It is a blueprint for creating a charity benefit to help museums and historic buildings gain visibility, funding, and enthusiastic visitors, as well as bringing tourism and good times to a historic town - come and enjoy a great weekend with friends!

In addition to the entertainment we're bringing in, we've also got:

-Specialty, hourly guided thematic tours of the historic Vail House

-Self-guided tours through the newly installed interactive exhibit in the National Historic Landmark Factory Building

-Two hands-on experiment-based workshops

-Staff-led lectures on the origins of Steampunk, the Crystal Palace Exhibition, and the Historic Fashions in the life of England’s Queen Victoria

-Blacksmithing demonstrations

-Industrial archeology tours of the site’s functional over-shot waterwheel

-Children’s craft and dress-up station

-Interpretations of 19th century death and mourning customs with our historically accurate hearse
