Women's Self-Defense Seminar & Jersey Battered Women's Service Fundraiser

Real World Mixed Martial Arts (RWMMA), a martial arts academy that has offered residents of Morris County, N.J. practical self-defense training for over 10  years, will be conducting a two-day women’s only self-defense seminar to benefit the Jersey Battered Women’s Service (JBWS) starting April 26, 2014.

This seminar will provide attendees with physical and mental tools for a variety of dangerous situations including mugging and sexual assault. Attendees will learn how to free themselves from an assailant’s grasp, create enough space to escape from an attacker, or even fight back if necessary.

In addition, a Morris Township, N.J. police officer will discuss assailant psychology and offer techniques on how to avoid dangerous confrontations. Overall, the seminar stresses awareness, preparation, and training to boost the self-confidence of all those who attend.

RWMMA is owned by Professor George Sernack, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do black belt with over 30 years teaching experience, including women’s self-defense training. “This class is not about belts, uniforms, rank, or ceremony,” Sernack says, “It’s about teaching women essential skills for self-defense in order to protect themselves and their families. We want women of all types, ages, and professions to know how to deal with violent attackers.”

RWMMA will host the seminar at 27 East Main St, Denville, N.J. The April 26 class goes from 3:00pm to 4:30pm and the April 27 class goes from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. There is a minimum $10.00 dollar donation accepted at the door. All proceeds will go towards the JBWS. For more information please contact RWMMA at 973-625-9444 or visit www.rwmma.com.
