Cub Scouts Pay Respects, Replace Flags at Holy Rood Cemetery

More than 300 flags were replaced in combined effort with American Legion group.

The magnitude of Memorial Day has not been lost on today’s youth, at least not in Morristown, and not for members of Cub Scout Pack 228.

The Pack joined members of the Morristown American Legion Post No. 59 at Holy Rood Cemetery to search for old or broken American Flags and replaced them with new ones.

More than 300 flags were replaced in the effort, according to the Pack.

“I took my cap off to show respect as we replaced each flag,” said Pack member Spencer Cone in a statement from the group. “They served and gave their lives for us and that’s probably why most of us are here right now.”

Boy Scouts from Troops 228, 112 and 34 also assisted in the flag replacement.
