Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll to Host Blood Drive at Morristown Memorial Hospital

Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll, (R-District 25) and Morristown Memorial Hospital will sponsor a blood drive at the hospital on Wednesday, January 19, 2011.

The drive was organized in response to a call to state legislators and hospital CEOs by the New Jersey Hospital Association to promote National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, celebrated in January. A lifelong blood donor, Assemblyman Carroll  felt it was his duty to not only donate himself, but also to urge others to take part donating blood and/or platelets that are needed by patients during the critical winter months.

January was designated as National Volunteer Blood Donor Month (NVBDM) because it has historically been a difficult month for blood collections due to winter shortages that occur because of the holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather and increased illness.
