Morris Habitat Annual Meeting

Morris Habitat for Humanity Holds Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Reception

Do you know what Morris Habitat for Humanity does to help area residents?  On Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Morris Habitat will be holding their Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Reception.  It’s a chance to come and learn about Morris Habitat’s accomplishments in 2011 and what they have planned for 2012 and beyond.  If interested, you can also see how you can help out, either on a construction site, the ReStore , a team, or the office. .  The Reception will be held at the Mine Hill Civic Center, 10 Baker Street, Mine Hill, NJ and refreshments will be served. All are welcome!!

This year the 2011 honorees for Community Partners are the Summit Housing Authority/Affordable Housing Corporation, the City of Summit, NJ and Jacksonville Chapel.  Special Recognition will go to College Hunks and Customized Distribution Services.  The Distinguished Partners being recognized are Rich Genese and Sean & Betsy Monaghan.  Morris Habitat’s 2011 Perseverance Partners are Deb Landau, Carole Mattola, Warren Mauzy, Kim Miller, Bob Mullen, George Solovay, George Thomas, and Nancy Walen. The Charles  Hamilton Tribute Award will be awarded to Sue and Joe Monico.

Additionally there will be the installation of new Board of Director Officers. The new President:  Richard Sleece, Vice President: Peter Wentworth, Secretary: Phil Van Kirk, and Treasurer: Gary McDowell will be introduced and outgoing board members:  Beth Everett and Jim Downs will get a big thank you for their help these last few years.

This is a great opportunity to meet some of the Morris Habitat staff, Board members, homeowner families, and volunteers and get a  better understanding of what it takes to provide safe, affordable housing to local families in need.
