The search for a new permanent principal for Morristown High School kicks into high gear this week when a slew of interviews are scheduled to begin.
Human Resources Director Martha Webber told the Morris School District Board of Education on at Monday’s meeting that meetings were set up with 16 prospective candidates on Wednesday, Thursday and the following Monday.
That number was whittled down from 49 initial applicants, Webber said.

“And then in the next few weeks we will determine which of these people will go before the screening committee,” Webber said.
A pre-screening committee is currently vetting the applicants, but Webber said the full committee, once engaged, will contain “key communicators” with representatives from the faculty, the board, administration, the public and the union.

The district is looking for a replacement for Ethel Minchello, who came out of retirement for $153,822 annually to serve as interim principal when Linda Murphy was reassigned.
