Morristown High School Explores Expansion

Finance committee begins 'high level' talks to make room for swelling student population.

It would appear Morristown High School is in need of a little breathing room.

At Monday’s meeting of the Morris School District Board of Education the finance committee report included the news that the district has begun to look at expanding their current facilities.

“We began looking at various possibilities for expansion at the high school,” said board member Lisa Pollak. “It seems to be necessary. It is not based on a demographic needs but based on what we see with the numbers of students coming into the high school.”

Pollak said that the discussions were very high level at this point.

“We are looking into how much money we have in our capital budget for improvements,” Pollak said. “But we are going to need more space and we looking at what kinds of changes we can make.”
