Greater Morristown YMCA Celebrates 140 Years

On Saturday, March 29 the Greater Morristown YMCA held a dinner dance to celebrate its 140th anniversary. Founded in 1874, the YMCA has long been a staple in Morristown, serving the community by promoting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. From starting out in a second floor walkup on Park Place to our fifth and current home on Horsehill Road in Cedar Knolls, the Y has always been a Morristown institution.

The dance, held at the YMCA, was attended by nearly 200 guests including Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, who presented the Y with a proclamation to celebrate its 140th anniversary and a US flag that had been flown over the Capital Building. The evening featured catering by Ridgedale Pizza and Restaurant, cakes by Mara’s in Denville and the Golden Gup provided musical entertainment that got everyone on the dance floor.

The Greater Morristown YMCA is located at 79 Horsehill Road and offers affordable memberships for all ages. Stop by anytime for a tour. www.GreaterMorristownYMCA.org
