After two years of cancellations due to terrifying weather, Bones and Stones graveyard tour returns to the Presbyterian Church located at 57 East Park Place in Morristown on Oct 27.
According to the Morris County Tourism bureau, a local historian takes guests through the graveyard behind the
Presbyterian Church revealing the history of Morristown. Some of the
graves reflect the rich and famous of the Morris area while other graves are more tragic.
During the Revolution, soldiers dying of smallpox at the church which
doubled as a hospital were buried in unmarked graves.
The Tourism Bureau offers this spooky walking tour of a Colonial-era burying ground that opened in 1733. This year there are only two tours, one at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Tours are one hour and afterwards visitors are invited to see the jack o' lantern illumination at the reflective pool on South Street, sponsored by Morris Arts at 6 p.m.
Pre-registration is required and those interested in attending can register by calling 973-631-5151.
