Toys For Tots Train Rolls Through Morris County

U.S. Marine Corps Program collects new, unwrapped toys for needy children.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about how you can help those less fortunate as the Toys for Tots campaign makes its way through Morris County.

On Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11, a special train will run through Northern New Jersey -including along the tracks of the Morris County-owned High Bridge Branch and the Dover and Rockaway Railroad- to collect donated toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys to distribute as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community where the campaign is conducted.

The train has 13 stops planned, including several in Morris County, where members of the public can drop off new, unwrapped toys, board the train's caboose to see Santa Claus, experience a variety of working railroad equipment first-hand, and meet members of the Marine Corps and Operation Toy Train.

The Saturday schedule includes stops in Pompton Lakes (1 Station Plaza) from 1 to 2:45 p.m.; and at the Butler Museum (1 Ace Road, Butler) from 3 to 3:45 p.m.
